In 2014, a redesign of the of the standard Hinge Doctor tools included a notch in the HA1, HA3 and HA4 tools. This allows you to use the tool with a adjustable wrench, instead of the normal method of opening the door while the tool is installed over a hinge.

While the standard tools are now out of production, many are still available from different sellers. The new notched tools have a D at the end of the model number, such as HA1D, HA3D, etc.
